Day 1: Djanet
We begin our journey with arrival at the airport, followed by a transfer to Djanet.
Upon arrival, check into the guesthouse and spend the night.
Day 2: Tadrat - Oued Baridj
First, depart for Tadrart by 4×4, with lunch at Tin-Zeran Cave around noon.
Visit the cave paintings, a site where UNESCO conducts research.
In the afternoon, continue towards Oued El Baridj.
Day 3: Oued Baridj
Today, we will explore the engraving and rock painting sites of Oued Baridj.
In the afternoon, tackle a challenging 4×4 route through the sand dunes to reach the bivouac at Moulanaga in the evening.
Day 4: Tin-Merzouga
To begin the day, we will head towards Tin-Merzouga to visit the Cathedral arches, along with nearby paintings and engravings.
Lunch will be at In-Tehak, followed by arrival at Tin-Merzouga in the afternoon, in time to enjoy the sunset.
Day 5: Tin-Merzouga - Injaran
First, we will travel from Tin-Merzouga to Injaran.
Next, visit the cave paintings of Abu-Hadiene and enjoy lunch on the dunes of In-Zaouatene.
The day concludes with arrival at the bivouac in Injaran.
Day 6: Tin-Akaham - Tiska
We will begin an amazing day exploring diverse landscapes as we travel towards Tin-Akaham.
At the end of the day, we will set up camp for the night in Tiska, in the heart of the Tenereé Plain.
Day 7: Tiska - Taghene - Aitelouatan
Today we will depart for Djanet, visiting the famous “Crying Cow” engravings along the way.
Lunch will be in Taghene, followed by an overnight bivouac in Aitelouatan.
Day 8: Tikoubaoune - Canyons of Essendilene
Explore the varied landscapes, enjoy lunch near the arches of Tikoubaoune, and spend the night in a bivouac in the canyons of Essendilene.
Day 9: Ouagheghan
Spend the day on the dunes, enjoy lunch near the engravings of Didier, and overnight in a bivouac at Ouagheghan.
Day 10: Erg Admer
On the last day in the Sahara, enjoy lunch in Tiouaitaterene and spend the night in a bivouac among the dunes of Erg Admer.
Day 11: Djanet
Arrive in Djanet at noon and enjoy lunch at the agency’s guesthouse. In the afternoon, explore the town of Djanet, its crafts, and the palm grove.
Dinner at the guesthouse, followed by transfer to the airport for your flight to Algiers and onward return journey.

With the “4×4: The Sand Road” circuit, we invite you to discover a different side of the desert—one that takes you off the main tourist routes while still visiting the most iconic sites around Djanet, including Essendilène, the rock engravings of Dider, the endless dunes of Erg Admer, and the Tuareg village of Ihrir. This is a unique way to explore the Algerian desert.
This 4×4 tour, combined with a few hikes, offers an authentic experience of desert life as lived by the Tuaregs. You will be in harmony with nature, following the rhythm of the sun and stars.
Along the many walks, you can admire rock paintings and engravings tucked away at the bend of a path. The magnificent oases, with their unexpectedly clear waters—known as gueltas—will amaze you, as these waters are permanent in the desert.
And, of course, you will have the opportunity to taste an excellent couscous accompanied by the enchanting music of the Tuareg people.
