Day 1: Arrival in Djanet
Flight from Algiers 22:15 direct to Djanet 00:30, welcome at Djanet airport by our Tuareg guide and team. After formalities, our team and 4×4 vehicles will take you to the hotel.
Day 2: First steps in the desert
Breakfast and immediate departure by 4×4 via Djanet for some formalities to visit the National Park. Short hike late afternoon in Erg Admer with its endless dunes, sunset at the top of a dune; first bivouac under the stars – the true desert experience begins.
Day 3: Discovery of the Essendilène canyon and ancient rock engravings
Morning transfer by 4×4, hike in the magnificent Essendilène canyon to its guelta, and visit to Dider for the Tin Taghirt rock engravings in the afternoon; bivouac.
Day 4: Trek to Iherir and the Guelta oases
Full day hike to the village of Idaren via the Anaref plateau, arriving at Ihrir after passing more than five gueltas, all more beautiful than the last. Picnic by the water; in Ihrir, discover the zeriba (round stone houses).
Day 5: Majestic landscapes of Tisras
Departure by 4×4 towards Djanet, afternoon hike at Tisras with orange dunes mixed with huge rocks in multiple shapes, bivouac with couscous dinner.
Day 6: Adventure on the Tassili N'Ajjer plateau
Very early hike to the famous Tassili N’Ajjer plateau, climb the cliff (approx. 650 meters elevation gain) and visit some sublime rock paintings; bivouac at Timras. (This hike can be replaced by an extra day in Ihrir or by a day hike in a sand and rock landscape.)
Day 7: The “Crying Cow” and return to Djanet
Very early hike to the famous Tassili N’Ajjer plateau, climb the cliff (approx. 650 meters elevation gain) and visit some sublime rock paintings; bivouac at Timras. (This hike can be replaced by an extra day in Ihrir or by a day hike in a sand and rock landscape.)
Day 8: Departure
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Algiers at 10:10. Arrival in Algiers 12:25, then onward to the international airport for your return flight.

Through this circuit, we want to show you “another desert” – one that allows you to move away a bit from the main tourist circuits while still visiting the key sites around Djanet, including Essendilène, the Dider rock engravings, the Erg Admer and its endless dunes, and the Tuareg village of Ihrir… A different way to discover the Algerian desert.
With this 4×4 circuit, combined with some hikes, you will experience desert life as the Tuaregs live it. You will be in harmony with nature, the rhythm of the sun, and the stars. During the many proposed walks, you will admire some paintings or rock engravings along the way. The magnificent oases with their unexpectedly clear water surfaces – the Gueltas – will amaze you, with water present all year round.

WHEN IS THE BEST SEASON FOR THIS CIRCUIT?
October to April, when desert days are pleasant and nights cool. Summer is extremely hot in the Tassili region. Departures are organized on request.
